Privacy Policy

This page describes exactly what Ayght Sports records when you read it, how long those records are kept, and what we do not do. It is written to be checkable against the site’s actual behaviour rather than to cover every eventuality in general terms.

Effective 15 October 2026. Ayght Sports is operated by Ayght, LLC.

The short version

We count how many people read the site and which pages they open. We do not ask who you are, and we have built the counting so that we cannot work it out afterwards.

  • There is no account to create. We never ask for your name, email address, or payment details, and there is nowhere on this site to give them to us.
  • We do not store your IP address. We use it for a moment to compute a one-way fingerprint, and the key that would be needed to reverse that fingerprint is destroyed every night.
  • We do not sell data, we run no advertising network, and we do not track you across other websites.
  • Counting works without any cookie. One optional cookie exists, it is only set if you agree to it, and the site works identically if you decline.

How we count visits

Each day we generate a long random value, which we call a salt, and keep it for that day only. When you load a page, we combine that day’s salt with your IP address and your browser’s user-agent string, run the result through a SHA-256 hash, and store the first 32 characters of the output alongside the date and a count of pages read.

Two consequences are worth stating plainly, because they are the whole point of doing it this way.

  • The IP address is never written down. It exists in memory long enough to compute the hash and is then gone. What is stored is the hash.
  • Yesterday’s salt no longer exists. It is overwritten when the date changes. Without it, the stored hashes cannot be recomputed from any IP address, including yours — so even we cannot go back and ask which rows were a particular person.

The cost of this design is a real limitation, and we would rather name it than let the figures be read as more than they are: because the salt changes nightly, the same person visiting on two days produces two unrelated hashes and is counted twice. Our visitor figures are therefore counts of daily visits, not counts of distinct people, and we label them that way in our own reporting.

What pages are opened

Separately, we keep a tally of how often each event, team and tournament page is opened. A row records the event, its league, the name of the matchup, how far ahead of the start time it was read, the date, and a number of views.

These rows contain nothing about who did the reading. They are not linked to the visit records above, or to each other, so they cannot be assembled into a history of one person’s browsing. They tell us that a particular game was opened forty times on a Tuesday, and nothing else.

Returning visitors

Because the nightly salt makes returns invisible, we have an optional second measurement that can be switched on to see whether readers come back within a calendar month. Where it is active, one of two things is recorded, never both for the same visitor:

  • If you have agreed to statistics cookies, a random identifier stored in your browser (see the cookie table below). It contains nothing derived from you — it is simply a random number.
  • If you have not, a hash computed the same way as above but salted per calendar month instead of per day.

A month is the entire window either way. Nobody can be followed from one month into the next, and the monthly salt is discarded when the month turns.

Cookies

Ayght Sports sets three cookies at most. None of them is required for counting, and the site is fully functional with all of them absent.

If you withdraw consent, ayght_v is deleted from your browser on your next page load, and the identifier is not used again unless you consent afresh.

Advertising on this site

The site carries a labelled advertising placement for Ayght, the contract exchange operated by the same company.

The advertising on this website collects no data about you. The placement is a piece of text, an image served from this site, and a link. It loads no third-party script, pixel, or tracker, it sets no cookie, and it reports nothing to anyone. The only thing recorded is a daily total of how many times it was shown and how many times it was clicked — two numbers per day, held by us, with nothing attached to say who did either.

If you follow that link you leave this site, and what Ayght collects is governed by that service’s own privacy policy, not by this one. We make no representation here about the data practices of any other service, including one operated by the same company. This policy describes ayghtsports.com and nothing else.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent, or trade any of this data.
  • We run no advertising network and no third-party analytics service. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, and no social media tracker on this site.
  • We do not build profiles of readers or infer anything about you from what you open.
  • We do not track you across other websites, because we have nothing that would let us.
  • We do not attempt to identify individual readers, and the counting described above is designed to make that impossible rather than merely against policy.

Others who handle data on our behalf

  • Our hosting provider operates the server and, like any web host, keeps standard server logs that include IP addresses. These are the host’s operational records, held under their own retention arrangements, and are separate from everything described above.
  • Our consent notice is provided by a WordPress plugin that records your cookie choice in your browser.
  • Sports data providers supply schedules, results and team information. Data flows from them to us. Nothing about you is sent to them.

One point that a careful reader might reasonably wonder about: this site receives its probabilities and schedules from the Ayght platform over a one-way, signed connection. That connection carries sports data only. No visitor information travels across it in either direction.

How long records are kept

RecordKept for
Daily visit hashes400 days, then deleted
Page-view tallies180 days, then deleted
Returning-visitor records13 months, then deleted
Advertising totals90 days, then deleted

Deletion is automatic. Note that the practical privacy limit arrives much sooner than these dates: a visit hash stops being traceable to anyone the moment its day’s salt is destroyed, which is the same night.

Your choices

  • Ask not to be counted. Visiting this link sets a cookie that excludes your visits from our figures entirely. This one reverses it. The preference lives in that browser, so it will not follow you to another device, and clearing your cookies clears it.
  • Change your cookie choice at any time through the opt-out preferences link in the footer.
  • Use your browser’s controls. Blocking cookies, or browsing privately, will prevent the optional identifier from persisting. The site works normally either way.

Rights of access and deletion

Privacy laws in a number of places give people the right to see what a company holds about them, to correct it, and to have it deleted. We will honour such a request wherever it applies to us, and you can make one at the address below.

We should be honest about what we will usually be able to do with one. Because nothing we store is tied to an identity, and because the keys that would connect a stored hash to a person are destroyed nightly, we generally cannot locate records belonging to a named individual — there is nothing to search by. This is a consequence of the design rather than a refusal, and it cuts both ways: we cannot hand over your reading history because we never had it in a form that could be looked up. If you have the optional identifier in your browser, deleting that cookie severs the only link that exists.

Children

This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and there is no mechanism on the site through which a child could provide us with personal information.

Changes to this page

If what we collect changes, this page changes with it, and the effective date at the top moves. We would rather this page lag our intentions than lead them, so it describes what the site does today and not what it may do later.
